American “California-style” dining by way of a Tokyo Shinjuku Station restaurant called “The Smile.”
Today, my brother and I went to a Tokyo burger chain called “The Smile,” which advertises itself as offering “California-style” dining. (In other words: lots of avocado.) The restaurant was on the seventh floor of Lumine East built over the East Exit of Shinjuku station. Shinjuku Station is a masterpiece of the Japanese train system with over 200 exits and 51 platforms. @_@
Fortunately we easily found our way to “The Smile” to enjoy the air conditioning and relaxed atmosphere. Outside, we waited for a table on tiny stools shaped like burgers. ADORABLE. The food was awesome too.
The burger and fries were excellent!! My brother said that his burger was better than 80% of burgers he has eaten in the U.S.
An American burger but ever-so-much-more-so. YUM!
